Ed Burgess
ARB, RIBA, RIAS, DipArch, BSc
After over 20 years working with leading practices such as Panter Hudspith Architects, Richard Rogers Partnership (now RSHP), Richard Murphy and John Pawson, Ed Burgess has used his wide experience and hands-on knowledge to create burgess architects - a small, focused practice based on the principles of exceptional communication and client-centred architecture - returning to his roots to work on high quality residential projects.
A selection of projects which Ed worked on at previous practices is included in the Project Archive.
Ed is deputy leader of a charity group for children with profound disabilities, founding chair of the Small Practice London Architecture Talks, and works as a mentor to children and students interested in architecture and the built environment.

Christina Pettingale
ARB, PGDip, March, Bsc
Christina joined Burgess Architects as an Architect in 2021 and an Associate with the practice since 2024.
She enjoys the process of bringing designs to fruition on site and brings her extensive experience in delivering projects from design to completion to some of the most complex schemes in the office.
She has experience working with listed buildings and particularly enjoys working on residential projects where she can build a relationship with clients to fulfil their design aspirations for their homes and enhance their experience of the built environment.
As Associate, she is responsible for forecasting workload and overseeing project resourcing.
Outside of her work in practice she helps to deliver community arts events that encourage meaningful engagement between young people and their built environment.

Isabel Varés
ARB
Isabel is a senior architect, originally graduated in Spain, she has gained a wide experience working on listed building refurbishment and residential project in different London practices.
Isabel enjoys working on projects from concept design to the detailing and materiality approach. Isabel is keen on maintain the historical sense of the sites while adding new life to existing buildings. Isabel’s interest in conservation and sustainability aligns well with the retrofit practice’s ethos.
Isabel particularly appreciates different ways to represent the architecture, enjoys creating conceptual models and sketches to illustrate the projects ideas.
Outside her architectural practice, Isabel has led creative children’s workshops to give them new creatives tools to incorporate to their learning.

Tom Parsons
RIBA, ARB, PGDip, MA, BA(Hons)
Having worked with Ed for three years when Burgess Architects was first set up, Tom returned to the practice in 2024 after gaining useful experience managing small scale residential projects. As a Senior Architect his calm demeanour and technical know-how are greatly valued on the projects he looks after.
He brings extensive knowledge of sustainable retrofit of existing buildings to the practice and a keen interest in digital fabrication and CNC manufacture.
Tom enjoys bouldering, travel and photography in his spare time.

Sigrid Muller
ARB, MArch
Sigrid joined Burgess Architects as a Senior Architect in 2025, bringing over a decade of experience delivering projects for institutional and private clients, many involving listed buildings and sensitive sites.
As well as practice experience in London and New York, Sigrid has worked as a client-side architect and project manager for the Royal Academy of Arts where she facilitated a number of complex art installations, conservation and maintenance works across their listed campus.
Sigrid has a particular interest in the sustainable adaptation of existing buildings and believes in the power of good design to improve wellbeing.
Outside work, Sigrid loves to sing, paint and craft.

Will Munroe
MArch, BA
Will joined Burgess Architects as an Architectural Designer in 2024. He enjoys highly detailed and intimate spaces with a focus on craft.
Will has experience in commercial retro-fit across Central London predominantly, including work with listed buildings.
Outside of work Will is a regular hand drawer and has as interest in garment design and production, specifically sportswear.

Ginny Chen
MArch, Bsc
Ginny joined Burgess Architects in May 2024 as a Part 2 Architectural Assistant having recently graduated from the University of Bath. Her interest is in the atmosphere and character of a space and the way it will be experienced by the user thereafter.
In her free time, she enjoys painting and beginner level crochet specially creating amigurumi.
