Alleyn Park Garden Centre
Client: The Dulwich Estate
Value: £t.b.c
Time: 2019
Status: Feasibility
Location: West Dulwich, London
It's great having a garden centre in West Dulwich, but its existing location is not well suited to its needs due to it being surrounded by properties and low passing footfall. The Dulwich Estate are therefore proposing to relocate the garden centre to the prominent corner on South Croxted Road and Park Hall Road.
This would also provide the opportunity to improve a part of the local street scene, and it positions the garden centre in a more visible location. The principle historic building on the site will be retained and refurbished giving the garden centre improved internal sales areas and back-of-house facilities. The front and back gardens which are currently overgrown will create great outdoor sales areas, and will include a covered area with a canopy. No additional parking is proposed for the garden centre, but deliveries and customer pick-up area will be provided to the rear of the site from Alleyn Crescent. A new wall and railing on the boundary to Croxted Road will replace the existing dilapidated fence.
Repositioning the garden centre would also enable us to provide 4 new homes on the existing garden centre site, you can see our proposals for that site on the West Dulwich Mews project page.
Both these schemes featured in The Dulwich Estate's recent Public Consultation, which is still available to view on their website.
